A diagnosis of cancer can have a far-reaching impact, not just on the person with cancer but also on their family and friends. That's where the Centre comes in.
Established in 1983, the Centre is a registered charity that helps anyone who has been affected by cancer. This includes not just people who have cancer but also those who have a family member or friend with the disease as well as health care professionals.
The Centre's services can be used by anyone who can reach the Centre, which is 10 minutes' walk from Clapham Junction station in south London. We offer a warm and welcoming environment, in which each person is regarded as an individual with their own unique response to the changes brought about by a life-threatening illness.
There is also a Home Visiting Service that sends trained volunteers to people who are housebound in Wandsworth and other local boroughs.
Our publications, information service and educational events are available to people nationwide.
Our services can help to:
reduce levels of stress and trauma
create a sense of well-being
improve self-esteem and self-confidence
reduce feelings of loneliness
increase people's sense of control and influence
raise energy levels
